Hi! It’s been a crazy busy few months and I have really missed feeding my creative side with this good ole blog. I have noticed that some of my favorite design blogs go on hiatus every now and then, and maybe that’s what happens when life gets messy. I hope that I am back to regular posting sooner rather than later.
So, we are moving! We have been mulling this over for a while and found a house that we couldn’t pass up, so we closed our eyes, opened our checkbook and took the leap of faith that is required when buying a new house first, then selling an old house, and moving 4 people, a dog and a life, and ALL.THAT.STUFF.
We were so lucky and had our house professionally photographed before we moved out! The house may be featured by a local interior design blog, so I will keep you posted as all of that unfolds. I am so excited to see “real shots” of our house.
In the meantime, the next few posts will be a “virtual tour” of the house. I took these pictures on the day the house hit the MLS.
I will start with the neverending bathroom “facelift”. The idea was originally conceived in 2009 in this post. I don’t have a true “before” picture, but here is one in progress:

We worked hard, but smart, on this bathroom! The vanity and the light fixture are both Martha Stewart for Home Depot. Can you believe it?! I bought the mirror at a consignment store in Savannah for $15. The shower curtain and the bath mat are both really affordable West Elm finds. Our floors were professionally installed and by far the biggest splurge in the room, but we used the largest and least expensive marble option. The wall color is Sundance by Benjamin Moore and a great yellow for a small space — not too bright, but not dull or mustardy. Oh, and I love the Orla Kiely patterned Method hand soap.
If we were staying in the house, I would have replaced the floor grate with something more interesting and fresh, and would have bought a custom shower curtain that would have hung from the ceiling on a stainless steel rod, but because we knew we were selling, we went for cheap, easy and good enough! 🙂
