Spring Inspiration: A Swedish Home

Ikea, Hanna Andersson, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.  As of we needed another reason to love Sweden….

Well, I found one.  Check out this amazing summer home.   The home is owned by Jill Sorensen, the blogstress behind Live Like You.  This gal has it all.  No really.  She founded Marmalade Interiors (an international design firm), she started a DC-based charity that helps victims of domestic violence, she is a mother, screen writer, producer, actress, and — wait for it — a fashion model!

Each summer, she flees the heat and humidity of Virginia to spend time at this UH-MAZE-ING lake house in Torp, Sweden.

I love the white walls and white painted floors in the entry hall with a pop of turquoise in the chandelier and warmth on the floor from the dhurrie rug.

The console and mirror above are amazing.  Notice the wide striped paint — the aquamarine and white contrast looks great.  The picture above the chair is of her mother in a row boat.

She even has a chic toy cabinet!  I love the shelf liners.

I would stay in this guest cottage anytime!  I love the white with the varying shades of blue, and that sparkly and dainty light fixture.  The turquoise console is fab.

And the view, HELLO!

Her son’s room looks like it’s right out of Domino Magazine — I like the use of the white and natural wood, the light blue walls and the white drapes.  Not too kitsch or matchy.  Lovely!

I will conclude with her design credo:

1. Good design should be available to anyone to improve the quality of their lives.

2. Great style doesn’t mean big budget.

3. Your home should make you happy.
